Cory is one of the larger waste companies in the UK, focused in London and the south east and using a unique river-based infrastructure on the River Thames[1].

Accounting approaches and financial years do not completely align across waste company pages (for FY ending March the year is shown as the previous year ie FY March 2025 is presented as 2024).

History
- Founded in the mid–late 1800s and incorporated over 125 years ago in 1896 as W.M. Cory & Son, Cory evolved from a coal distribution company on the River Thames[4]
- In the 1980s Cory sold its coal and oils distribution business and created Cory Waste Management[4]
- In 2002 Cory signed a 30 year contract with the Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA) including management of riverside transfer stations at Smugglers Way and Cringle Dock, river haulage of waste and the development of a 84,000 tonne a year MRF at Smugglers Way which was opened in 2011[4]
- Planning consent was granted for Riverside Resource Recovery Facility (RRRF) (also known as Riverside 1) which was opened in 2012[4]
- In 2017 Cory were awarded the contract to operate Tower Hamlets' transfer station, river-based transport and disposal[4]
- In 2018 Cory were acquired by infrastructure investors – Dalmore Capital, Fiera Infrastructure, Semperian PPP Investment Partners and Swiss Life Asset Managers[4]
- In 2020 Cory secured a DCO for Riverside Energy Park (REP) (also known as Riverside 2) which in May 2026 was in the latter stages of commissioning[4]
- In November 2025 Cory secured a DCO to build a Carbon Capture Storage facility adjacent to its Riverside 1 and 2 EfW facilites[5]
- In January 2022 Cory acquired the McGrath business, focused on a large site in Barking, East London. This facility was close to completing extensive redevelopment in early 2026[6]
- In July 2025 Cory were awarded the ELWA residual waste contract from 2027 for 10 years, with up to a 5 year extension focused on moving waste via their Barking transfer station to their Riverside EfW facilites by river[7]
